I remember watching him on the current affairs shows when I was a little one. He was that presenter with all the poise and class.
Then when I graduated to an adult I read his book, “Talking to my Country.” Australian identity investigated with such clarity. And the energy of it, the raw energy of his writing style, his telling of indigenous history. It was a very emotional read, very hard not to feel the deep impact of that one.
And then last night I went to the opening of MIFF with the film “The Australian Dream” which he wrote about Adam Goodes (and so much more).
This man will do much for this country. We need him badly.
